Free bankroll management spreadsheet — one that fills itself in
Below is the complete template for a sports betting bankroll management spreadsheet (columns, formulas and how much to stake). And if you'd rather not maintain any formulas, the free online version does the math for you, on your phone and your computer.
Already keeping a spreadsheet? Sophos PRO started as one, used by real bettors: the same columns and math, now online, with import of your old spreadsheet, bet slip photos and automatic analytics. Still free.
The template: the columns every bankroll management spreadsheet needs
A bankroll management spreadsheet is just an honest record of every bet. With these columns you can already calculate profit, ROI and the right size for your next bet:
| Column | What goes in it | Example |
|---|---|---|
| A · Date | Date of the bet | 10/18/2026 |
| B · Event | Game or market | Arsenal vs Chelsea |
| C · Market | Type of bet | Over 2.5 |
| D · Odds | Decimal odds | 1.85 |
| E · Stake | Amount staked ($) | 20.00 |
| F · Result | win, loss or void | win |
| G · Profit | Formula (below) | 17.00 |
| H · Bankroll | Running bankroll | 1,017.00 |
The formulas (Excel or Google Sheets)
Assuming row 2 is your first bet and your starting bankroll is in cell K1:
- Profit (G2):
=IF(F2="win",E2*(D2-1),IF(F2="loss",-E2,0)) - Bankroll (H2):
=K1+G2and, from row 3 on,=H2+G3 - Total profit:
=SUM(G:G) - ROI:
=SUM(G:G)/SUM(E:E)(format as %) - Win rate:
=COUNTIF(F:F,"win")/(COUNTIF(F:F,"win")+COUNTIF(F:F,"loss")) - Unit (2% of current bankroll):
=INDEX(H:H,COUNTA(H:H))*0.02
If your Excel or Google Sheets uses a European or Latin American locale, swap the , argument separator for ; and the decimal point in 0.02 for a comma.
How much to bet: the unit table
The rule that protects your bankroll the most is to always bet a fixed unit, between 1% and 3% of your bankroll. That way a losing streak hurts, but it doesn't wipe you out.
| Bankroll | Conservative (1%) | Moderate (2%) | Aggressive (3%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $100 | $1 | $2 | $3 |
| $500 | $5 | $10 | $15 |
| $1,000 | $10 | $20 | $30 |
| $2,000 | $20 | $40 | $60 |
| $5,000 | $50 | $100 | $150 |
With a 2% unit, it takes 50 straight losses (without a single win) to bust your bankroll. At 10% per bet, 10 is enough. That's why "betting big to win it back" is the fastest way to go broke.
Why spreadsheets usually get abandoned
A spreadsheet works on paper. In practice, most people stop filling it in within a few weeks because:
- It's a chore: typing every bet into Excel on your phone is slow, and one day without logging turns into a week.
- Formulas break: one row copied wrong and your ROI starts lying without you noticing.
- It shows the number, not the why: the spreadsheet tells you you're down, but not where (which market, which odds range, which day of the week).
The online version: Sophos PRO
Sophos PRO grew out of exactly that: a bankroll spreadsheet used by real bettors. It does everything the template above does, plus what a spreadsheet can't:
| Excel spreadsheet | Sophos PRO | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free | Free, no credit card |
| Logging a bet | Type it row by row | In seconds or from a bet slip photo (AI fills it in) |
| Phone | Hard to edit | Built for your phone |
| Profit, ROI, win rate | If the formula doesn't break | Automatic |
| Where you win and lose | You build a pivot table | By market, odds, strategy and day |
| Recommended stake | Manual formula | Calculated from your bankroll |
| Exchange / Lay | Extra formula | Liability and commission included |
| The spreadsheet you already have | — | Imports CSV, Excel, PDF and screenshots |
It doesn't give picks and doesn't bet for you. It organizes your history and shows, in plain English, where your edge is and where you sabotage yourself. It also comes with a free bankroll management course (8 short lessons) inside the app.
Frequently asked questions
Is the bankroll management spreadsheet free?
Yes. The template on this page is free to copy into Excel or Google Sheets, and the online version (Sophos PRO) is 100% free, no credit card required.
Where can I download a free bankroll management spreadsheet?
You can build one from the template above in a few minutes. Or skip the download: Sophos PRO started as a bankroll spreadsheet used by real bettors and now runs online, with the same columns and math, import of your old spreadsheet, bet slip photos and automatic analytics. It's free.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Sophos PRO opens in the browser on your phone and computer and can be added to your home screen like an app. An Excel spreadsheet is hard to edit on a phone; the app was built to log a bet in seconds.
Does it work with Bet365, Betfair, DraftKings and other sportsbooks?
It works with any sportsbook and with exchanges too (Lay, with liability and commission). You log or import your bets; Sophos never accesses your sportsbook account.
How much should I bet per wager?
The most common starting point is a unit of 1% to 3% of your bankroll per bet. With a $100 bankroll, that's $1 to $3; with $1,000, it's $10 to $30. The higher the odds and the variance, the smaller your unit should be.
Can I import the spreadsheet I already use?
Yes. Sophos PRO imports spreadsheets (CSV/Excel), PDFs and screenshots with the help of AI. You review everything before saving and can export it all to CSV whenever you want.
